Product information
The mass fraction of water,% ≤ the compound formed by the substitution of two hydrogen atoms by chlorine in methane molecule. Dichloromethane is colorless, transparent, heavier than water, volatile liquid, with ether like smell and sweet taste, does not burn, but mixed with high concentration of oxygen to form explosive mixture. Dichloromethane is slightly soluble in water and miscible with most commonly used organic solvents, as well as with other chlorine containing solvents, ether and ethanol in any proportion. Dichloromethane can quickly dissolve in phenol, aldehyde, ketone, glacial acetic acid, triethyl phosphate, formamide, cyclohexylamine and ethyl acetoacetate. Pure dichloromethane has no flash point, and the solvent mixture containing equal volume of dichloromethane and gasoline, solvent naphtha or toluene is not flammable. However, when dichloromethane is mixed with acetone or methanol at the ratio of 10:1, the mixture has flash point, and the vapor and air form explosive mixture, and the explosion limit is 6.2% - 15.0% (volume). Dichloromethane is the least toxic of methane chloride, and its toxicity is only 0.11% of that of carbon tetrachloride. If dichloromethane is directly splashed into the eyes, it will cause pain and corrode. The steam of dichloromethane has an anesthetic effect. When a serious poisoning hazard occurs, it should be immediately removed from contact and moved to fresh air. Some poisoning symptoms will be relieved or disappeared without causing lasting damage.
